Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema has commissioned a seventh instalment of the long-running “Final Destination” horror series, hiring Lori Evans Taylor—co-writer of this year’s breakout hit “Final Destination: Bloodlines”—to pen the script. The decision follows the unexpected commercial resurgence of the franchise: “Bloodlines,” released in May, has generated about $286 million worldwide, the best haul in the series’ 25-year history. Including that total, the six films have grossed roughly $983 million globally, making the property New Line’s third-largest horror brand after “The Conjuring” universe and the two-film “It” adaptation. Franchise mainstay Craig Perry returns to produce alongside Sheila Hanahan Taylor, with Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle and Toby Emmerich also producing and Warren Zide executive-producing. Plot details and a release date have not been announced.
