Fire crews in Utah County halted the forward spread of the Hub City Fire on Wednesday evening after the blaze quickly expanded to roughly 25 acres on a hillside above Cedar Hills, officials said. American Fork Fire and Rescue and the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands limited access to about 100 nearby homes as flames advanced to within about 100 yards of the neighborhood. No structural damage or injuries were reported, but authorities kept roads closed to let ground crews and aerial assets work unimpeded. The wildfire ignited about 5:00 p.m. on private property before crossing onto U.S. Forest Service land, according to area manager Justin Roach. While firefighters stopped the fire’s progression, containment lines had yet to be secured late Wednesday, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation. State officials warned that dry grasses and brush across Utah are keeping fire danger elevated. Residents were urged to clear vegetation near homes and avoid activities that could spark additional fires while crews work toward full containment.
