The San Francisco 49ers moved to shore up a rapidly thinning receiving corps by acquiring wideout Skyy Moore from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a swap of 2027 sixth- and seventh-round draft picks. General Manager John Lynch said Moore, 24, will join the club after passing a physical and could appear in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers. The deal adds a low-cost option—Moore carries a 2025 base salary of about $1.5 million—at a position gutted by injuries and a suspension. Lynch’s urgency intensified after veteran Russell Gage suffered a grade-1 MCL sprain in practice this week. The injury, which initially appeared more serious, is expected to sideline Gage seven to ten days, and the team believes he will be available for the Sept. 7 opener at Seattle. He joins a lengthy list of sidelined receivers: Brandon Aiyuk remains on the physically-unable-to-perform list while completing ACL rehabilitation, Jauan Jennings is nursing a calf injury amid stalled contract talks, Jordan Watkins is out with a high-ankle sprain, and rookie Jacob Cowing re-aggravated a hamstring. Free-agent signing DeMarcus Robinson will miss the first three games because of an NFL suspension. With six of their top seven receivers either hurt or unavailable, the 49ers have leaned on second-year target Ricky Pearsall in camp and have explored heavier 21- and 12-personnel packages that rely on running back Christian McCaffrey and tight end George Kittle. Even so, the club must field at least five healthy wideouts when final rosters are submitted on Aug. 26, and Lynch indicated additional moves, including short-term injured-reserve designations, remain under consideration.

And Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. We really should be evaluating the 49ers offense through the 21 and 12 personnel gauges because that's how they build out their five eligibles https://t.co/Z1s4Z2rIZQ
