The NFL has suspended San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson for the first three games of the 2025 season after he violated the league’s substance-abuse policy, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed in a KNBR interview. The penalty stems from Robinson’s DUI arrest last November; the 30-year-old pleaded no contest in July and was placed on three years’ probation. Signed in March to a two-year contract worth up to $9.5 million, Robinson will be eligible to return on 28 September against the Jacksonville Jaguars, although the club intends to appeal the ruling. Robinson’s absence deepens a shortage in a receiving corps already hit by injuries. Top option Brandon Aiyuk is not expected back until at least Week 6 as he recovers from ACL and MCL surgery, Jauan Jennings is nursing a calf strain amid contract talks, Jacob Cowing has re-aggravated a hamstring issue, and Jordan Watkins is sidelined with a high-ankle sprain. San Francisco’s healthy targets for the 7 September opener at Seattle are currently limited to Ricky Pearsall, Russell Gage and Robbie Chosen, with games at New Orleans and against Arizona rounding out the suspension period. To shore up depth, the 49ers have reached a deal to acquire Skyy Moore from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a swap of 2026 sixth- and seventh-round draft picks. Moore is entering the final year of his rookie contract with a $1.5 million base salary and is expected to contribute both on offense and special teams. The team also re-signed wideout Malik Knowles, underscoring management’s urgency to assemble at least five healthy receivers before final roster cuts later this month.

With Jauan Jennings, Jacob Cowing, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jordan Watkins all sidelined, the 49ers went looking for help at wide receiver and made a trade with the Chiefs. 📝: @LombardiHimself https://t.co/pOqu2Jur2u
