The Las Vegas Raiders have reached agreement with wide receiver Amari Cooper on a one-year contract, according to multiple reports citing league sources, including ESPN and Yahoo Sports. Cooper, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, returns to the franchise that drafted him fourth overall in 2015 and for which he played his first four NFL seasons before stints with Dallas and Cleveland. The Raiders were competing with at least one other suitor—the San Francisco 49ers—but Cooper opted for Las Vegas, where he is expected to step immediately into a leading role in quarterback Geno Smith’s offense. Financial terms were not disclosed. Cooper posted 1,250 receiving yards and seven touchdowns for the Browns last season, ranking ninth in the league in yardage despite missing two games.
