Donald Trump’s job-approval rating has fallen to 38%, with 60% of U.S. adults saying they disapprove of his performance, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted Aug. 4–10. The findings put the former president 22 percentage points underwater nationally and mark his weakest showing in the firm’s polling since returning to the White House in January 2025. The slide is broad-based. Pew’s data show a net approval swing of 18 points since February, driven in part by slippage among traditional supporters. The share of Republican-leaning adults who say they back "all" or "most" of Trump’s policies has dropped to 58% from 67% six months earlier. Among white voters, Trump’s net rating has fallen 17 points to –5, while Asians have moved 30 points to –35. Hispanic voters now rate him –43 and Black voters –68. Younger Americans are increasingly critical: 66% of adults aged 18–29 disapprove, compared with 65% of those 30–49, 54% of those 50–64 and 53% of seniors. Educational splits are also widening, with adults who did not attend college shifting to a –15 net rating from +8 in February, while college graduates fall to –31. A separate daily tracking poll released the same day by Rasmussen Reports—often more favorable to the president—shows 48% approve and 49% disapprove, reinforcing signs of waning public support as Trump approaches the midpoint of his renewed term.
