NASCAR rookie Connor Zilisch fractured his collarbone after slipping from the roof of his No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet while celebrating his Xfinity Series victory at Watkins Glen International on 9 August. Video of the incident shows the 19-year-old losing his footing when his left foot became caught in the window netting, sending him head-first onto the asphalt. Track medical staff immobilised him on a backboard and transported him by ambulance to the circuit’s infield care centre before he was taken to a local hospital. Zilisch posted on social media later that evening saying he had been released from hospital and that CT scans cleared him of head injuries. "I just have a broken collarbone," he wrote, thanking medical personnel for their quick response. The injury forced Trackhouse Racing to withdraw the No. 87 Chevrolet Zilisch was due to drive in the following day’s Cup Series event at the same venue. Saturday’s win was his sixth of the 2025 Xfinity season and extended his lead in the series standings to seven points over Justin Allgaier. Zilisch’s next Xfinity start is scheduled for 22 August at Daytona International Speedway, but the team has not yet confirmed whether he will be fit to compete.
