Insta360 entered the drone market on Thursday by unveiling the Antigravity A1, billed as the world’s first all-in-one drone capable of capturing 8K, 360-degree video. Developed by Antigravity, a newly created spin-off, the quadcopter places dual lenses on its top and bottom, allowing seamless spherical recording while removing the aircraft from the final image. Weighing 249 grams, the A1 skirts registration requirements in many jurisdictions. It ships with Vision FPV goggles and a one-handed Grip controller that uses motion sensing and head tracking—branded FreeMotion—to let pilots look in any direction while steering the drone elsewhere. Safety functions include obstacle avoidance, automatic return-to-home and a payload detector that grounds the craft if unauthorized weight is added. A global launch is scheduled for January 2026, with pricing and regional bundles still undisclosed. Ahead of release, Insta360 is recruiting testers through a “co-creation” programme that offers pre-production units and a share of a US$20,000 reward pool for feedback. The A1 debuts as U.S. regulators intensify scrutiny of Chinese drone imports, a development that could either hinder the newcomer or give it an opening as market leader DJI faces customs delays.

The Antigravity A1 drone looks pretty good, specs wise. But it arrives as the US government is cracking down on other Chinese drone brands, like DJI. https://t.co/i9NK8G1L1H
