The Kremlin said it does not rule out a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Beijing in September, provided the two leaders are in the Chinese capital at the same time. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin will attend ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and noted that Moscow has not yet received information on whether Trump plans to travel to China for the events. Peskov added that, should both presidents be present, arranging a bilateral discussion would be considered. He also reiterated Russia’s support for a third round of talks aimed at securing a peace agreement in Ukraine, an agenda item that could feature in any prospective Putin-Trump encounter.
