Long-range drones operated by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai early on 7 July, damaging one of the plant’s main technological workshops, according to Ukrainian intelligence sources and local Russian media. The refinery, officially called the A. Shamar Ilsky Oil Refinery and run by KNGK-INPZ, processes and dispatches fuel by road and rail. Located roughly 500 kilometres from Ukrainian-controlled territory, Ilsky is among southern Russia’s largest refineries, with annual output exceeding six million tons. Kyiv considers the facility part of Moscow’s defence-industrial complex because it supplies fuel for Russian military operations. The latest attack resumes a campaign against Russian oil infrastructure after a lull since March and follows a previous Ukrainian drone strike on the refinery on 17 February.
