Apple’s next Mac operating system, macOS Tahoe—officially version 26—has moved into public beta, unveiling the most extensive visual and functional update to macOS since 2020. The software adopts a "Liquid Glass" design language inspired by visionOS, introduces a revamped Finder icon and refreshed window aesthetics, and adds dynamic wallpapers that adjust from dawn to dusk. Productivity features are also expanding. Spotlight gains deeper intelligence, allowing users to run app-specific actions and recall a clipboard history without opening separate applications. Continuity now mirrors more iPhone activities on the desktop, including Live Activities and a fully fledged Phone app that surfaces call history and enables dialing when an iPhone is nearby. For personalization, the beta seeds 15 new aerial screen savers that double as 4K and 5K wallpapers, ranging from Lake Tahoe scenes to footage of the Himalayas and India’s western coast. Users can already download the public beta at beta.apple.com ahead of an expected general release in September.
