Israeli media outlets reported that an Israeli drone strike on 16 July targeted a convoy on the al-Mjemir road between Daraa and Sweida in southern Syria, killing Brigadier General Muammar Ibrahim, commander of the Syrian Arab Army’s 40th Division artillery regiment. Local sources said at least two other security officials— Abdul-Fattah al-Masayfara, the security chief for Bosra al-Sham, and Khaled Mousa Abdul-Ghani al-Zaabi, known as Abu Walid—also died in the strike. The attack marks one of the highest-ranking Syrian officers killed in a series of operations attributed to Israel against Iranian-allied forces and Syrian government positions.
Hebrew media claimed that in a drone attack on the Daraa, the commander of the artillery battalion of Syria's 40th Division was assassinated.
