Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro continued her rapid rise at Wimbledon, defeating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska 6–1, 2–6, 6–3 to reach the round of 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time. The 22-year-old, who memorably eliminated defending champion Marketa Vondrousova at last year’s Championships, steadied herself after a near two-hour rain delay to close out the third-round contest on Court 12. The result is expected to lift her into the WTA’s top 50 for the first time. Bouzas Maneiro will play Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova, ranked No. 19 and regarded as a grass-court specialist, in Monday’s fourth-round match.
