NBC has cast Bellamy Young in a recurring role for the second season of “Brilliant Minds,” the drama inspired by the work of neurologist and author Oliver Sacks. Young will play Dr. Amelia Frederick, the clinical director of the long-term mental-health facility Hudson Oaks, and a formidable professional foil to Zachary Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf. Season 2 is slated to premiere in September. Young’s addition follows the show’s recent expansion of its ensemble, which already includes new series regulars Brian Altemus and John Clarence Stewart. “Brilliant Minds” is produced by Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment, The Imaginarium and others in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, with Michael Grassi and Greg Berlanti among the executive producers. Separately, Variety reported that Mekhi Phifer has joined the second season of ABC’s “High Potential,” continuing a week of high-profile casting moves across broadcast network dramas.
