U.S. President Donald Trump held an extended conference call of more than 90 minutes with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a group of European leaders early Saturday, briefing them on the outcome of his talks with Russia’s Vladimir Putin in Alaska, according to the White House and an EU spokesperson. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte joined the call after an initial one-on-one discussion between Trump and Zelenskyy, people familiar with the conversation said. The discussion covered the Alaska summit’s “main points,” but no cease-fire for Ukraine was announced. Speaking later to U.S. media, Trump described the summit with Putin as “very productive” yet indicated key issues remain for Kyiv and its allies to settle, saying it is now “up to President Zelenskyy” to reach a deal. Separately, the Élysée Palace said Macron and Zelenskyy agreed in a phone conversation on Friday to meet again after the Alaska meeting, underscoring continuing diplomatic efforts among Washington, Kyiv and major European capitals.
