Egypt Purchases More Than 4 Million Tons of Domestic Wheat in 2025 Season, Says Minister
Ukraine's Deputy Minister reports the 2025 grain harvest is now projected to reach 56 million tons, revising previous estimates of 53-54 million tons.
Ukraine has raised its forecast for the 2025 grain harvest to about 56 million tons, Deputy Agriculture Minister said on Monday, citing favourable growing conditions. The revision compares with an earlier estimate of 53-54 million tons. Officials now expect the crop to include roughly 28 million tons of corn and 22 million tons of wheat if weather remains benign. Stronger output would allow Ukraine to ship about 40 million tons of grain in the 2025/26 marketing year, including 20 million tons of corn and 15-16 million tons of wheat, according to the ministry’s projections. Kyiv is also weighing an expansion of winter-wheat sowing to 5 million hectares in 2026 from 4.7 million hectares this year to build on the improved outlook. Separately, Egypt’s supply minister said Cairo has purchased more than 4 million tons of domestically grown wheat during the 2025 season, underscoring continued efforts by the world’s top wheat importer to bolster food security through local procurement.
