Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said over the weekend that it would be “impossible” for Kyiv to relinquish any territory to Russia, underscoring that Ukraine’s constitution forbids the surrender or trade of land. Speaking in Brussels on Sunday, Zelensky reiterated his demand for an immediate cease-fire and rejected reported Russian proposals that Ukraine formally cede the Donbas, large parts of which Moscow has occupied since 2014. Zelensky’s comments come ahead of a scheduled meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday at which the two leaders are expected to discuss a possible path to end the 12-year war. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signaled willingness to negotiate but wants territorial concessions, according to U.S. and European officials involved in the diplomacy. Zelensky insisted any final settlement must preserve Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders and be endorsed directly by the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.

This is not news but Zelensky maintaining his long held position. Moreover, a vast majority of Ukrainians do not support ceding territory to Russia as part of a deal to end the war – especially without strong, US-backed security guarantees. https://t.co/IFCfABHyXh
