President Donald Trump’s public support has slipped to one of the weakest points of his second term, according to a Reuters/Ipsos survey that closed on Monday. The six-day nationwide poll found 40% of U.S. adults approve of his job performance, matching the lowest level recorded since his return to the White House in January and unchanged from late July. The online poll questioned 4,446 respondents and carries a margin of error of about two percentage points. Trump’s standing is particularly fragile among Hispanic voters, only 32% of whom expressed approval—also a yearly low. In a sign of broader unease with his foreign policy, 54% of all respondents, including one in five Republicans, said the president is too closely aligned with Russia as he presses for a negotiated end to the war in Ukraine. Separate snapshots released the same day point to a similar downward trend. Rasmussen Reports’ daily tracking poll showed 47% approve and 51% disapprove of the president’s performance, while another independent survey pegged his net approval at minus four. The converging data highlight the political headwinds facing Trump as he pursues an aggressive immigration crackdown and contends with softer labor-market readings.
