Ohio Republican Warren Davidson said late Wednesday that he will vote in favor of the Senate-amended “One Big Beautiful Bill,” reversing the position he took when the House first approved the package in May. Davidson also pledged to support the procedural rule needed to bring the legislation to the floor, narrowing the margin House Republican leaders must overcome in their razor-thin majority. Davidson credited multiple conversations with President Donald Trump and the sharp criticism the bill has drawn from Democrats for persuading him to back the measure. “No one puts a deal together like President Trump,” he told reporters, calling the Senate product “the best we can get.” The Senate cleared its version of the sweeping spending and tax legislation on Tuesday, tightening the cap on state and local tax deductions and making Medicaid reforms more aggressive. House leadership seeks to hold final votes as soon as Friday, aiming to send the bill to the president’s desk before lawmakers leave for the summer recess.
