Trump Border Czar Cites Death Threats, Presses Congress for Funding Bill

U.S. border czar Tom Homan said he and his wife are living in separate locations because of persistent death threats, including one incident in April in which he said hundreds of protesters gathered outside his upstate New York home. Homan called the intimidation campaign “outrageous” and linked it to anger over federal immigration raids and deportations he oversees for President Donald Trump. Homan’s disclosure came the same day he delivered an impassioned appeal at a White House event where President Trump promoted the administration’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a measure that would finance additional border barriers and enlarge the ranks of deportation officers. “We have more than 600,000 illegal aliens with criminal histories walking the streets and fewer than 5,000 officers to track them,” Homan said, arguing that extra funding would allow agents to target public-safety threats more effectively. Trump underscored the push by honoring Angel Dad Joe Abraham—whose 20-year-old daughter Katie was killed in an Illinois hit-and-run by a previously deported Guatemalan national—and Texas resident Sarah Stewart, who lost her brother to fentanyl. The president said their stories show why Congress should swiftly pass the bill, which remains stalled amid partisan disagreement over immigration enforcement and spending levels.
