Forbes has released its 2025 Midas List, ranking the world's top 100 venture capital investors, with Alfred Lin of Sequoia Capital retaining the top spot due to investments in Airbnb, Doordash, and OpenAI. The list, compiled with TrueBridge Capital Partners, features Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, Roelof Botha, Keith Rabois, and other PayPal Mafia members. New entrants include Lucas Swisher of Coatue, which manages $55 billion and is noted for investments in SpaceX, UiPath, and Databricks, and Elad Gil, recognized for solo investments in companies like Anduril and Perplexity. Artificial intelligence continues to shape the rankings, with investors such as Gili Raanan of Cyberstarts highlighted for his $6 million seed investment in Wiz, a cloud security startup acquired by Google for $32 billion. David Sacks of Craft Ventures is recognized for his early investment in SpaceX. Kirsten Green of Forerunner Ventures is noted for her early bet on Chime, while Sarah Guo of Conviction enters the Seed List for AI investments including Mistral, Harvey, and Baseten. The 2025 Midas List records a decline in the number of women investors compared to last year, with Mar Hershenson ranking as the #1 woman on the list. Pejman Nozad of Pear Ventures leads the Midas Seed List as the #1 seed investor for the third consecutive year. Avi Eyal is ranked #16 globally among seed investors, with only nine from EMEA represented. The Seed List, now in its fourth year, includes four newcomers such as Josh Kopelman and highlights investments in companies like Cursor, which reached a $9 billion valuation. The Midas rankings are data-driven, based on public information and firm submissions, and require investors to have backed companies that have gone public or been acquired for at least $50 million, or currently hold a private valuation above $100 million with at least a threefold increase since the initial investment. Only investors from dedicated seed-stage firms are eligible for the Seed List. Forbes also published the 2025 Midas Brink List, featuring rising venture capital stars, and the Midas Originals, tracking consistent performers from the list's inception. Additionally, Forbes introduced the first-ever 30 Under 30 Local Columbus list, honoring young leaders in Columbus, Ohio, including Ohio State University football players Caleb Downs, Emeka Egbuka, and William Howard, Olympic swimmer Hunter Armstrong, and entrepreneur Claire Coder. The Forbes Under 30 Summit will be held in Columbus from September 28 to October 1, 2025, with speakers such as Suni Lee and Vivek Ramaswamy.
