Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled the August lineup for its PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers, adding a dozen titles that will become available on 19 August. Headlining the catalogue are NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 and Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, alongside Sword of the Sea and Earth Defense Force 6. Strategy RPG Unicorn Overlord and several recent indie releases, including Indika and Harold Halibut, round out the Extra tier. Premium subscribers will also gain access to up-rendered classics Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis from the original PlayStation library. The update arrives as the subscription service enters its 15th year, with Sony continuing to mix current-generation blockbusters and retro titles to bolster the value of its higher-priced memberships. Separately, Sony has launched a Gamescom-themed promotion on the PlayStation Store with discounts across more than 45 PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games, while the platform’s Summer Sale—featuring, for example, an 80 percent reduction on Hogwarts Legacy—concludes today.
