Apple is testing a reverse wireless-charging capability for the forthcoming iPhone 17 Pro, according to Chinese social-media leaker Fixed Focus Digital and reports from MacRumors, PhoneArena and Tom’s Guide. The feature would allow the handset to supply power to accessories such as AirPods and Apple Watch, bringing a function long available on rival Android models to Apple’s flagship phone. The leaker says Apple has evaluated delivering up to 7.5 watts through the system, but it remains unclear whether the company will activate the option when the iPhone 17 line is unveiled, widely expected at an event on Sept. 9. iPhones have offered limited reverse charging before—via the USB-C port at up to 4.5 watts and through the now-discontinued MagSafe Battery Pack—yet full bilateral wireless charging has never shipped on the devices. If enabled, the technology would give users a cable-free way to top up smaller Apple devices and could bolster the broader MagSafe ecosystem. Apple has not commented on the reports.
