The extended reality (XR) industry is seeing rapid development, with major technology companies unveiling new smart glasses and hardware ahead of AWE USA 2025, which will take place June 10-12 in Long Beach, California. Samsung, in partnership with Google, recently demonstrated a prototype of Android XR smart glasses, known as Project Moohan, featuring an integrated screen, live translation, navigation, and support for Google’s Gemini AI assistant. The prototype, powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, allows users to view notifications, capture photos, and receive navigation directions directly in their field of vision. Google has announced collaborations with eyewear brands such as Warby Parker, Gentle Monster, and Kering Eyewear to develop Android XR-powered smart glasses, with developers expected to gain access to the platform later this year. Other companies, including Xreal, are also working on Android XR devices. Google’s Project Beam was also highlighted among the new initiatives. Apple is reportedly accelerating its efforts to release its own smart glasses, with a possible launch in 2026. Early reports indicate that Apple’s glasses will include cameras, microphones, speakers, and features such as phone calls, music playback, live translation, turn-by-turn directions, and multimodal AI, branded as Visual Intelligence. Deep integration within the Apple ecosystem and a focus on privacy are expected to differentiate the product. Meta has updated the user interface of its Quest headset with the introduction of the Navigator overlay in version 77, aiming to streamline user experience. Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses have reportedly sold over two million units, influencing competitors’ strategies. AWE USA 2025 is expected to showcase innovations from leading XR companies, including Google, Meta, Samsung, Xreal, and others, with over 400 industry leaders and more than 300 exhibitors participating. The event will feature hands-on demonstrations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

I can't wait for the AndroidXR headsets. I'm starting to hate Meta Quest headsets so much, mainly because of their buggy and comically bad UI and UX. How can a company this big make so many bad decisions with UI? Bro
