Los Angeles pop-punk quartet Rocket has set 3 October for the release of its first full-length record, “R Is For Rocket,” through Transgressive Records and Canvasback. The group previewed the 10-track album with the single “Wide Awake,” a dissonant, drum-driven track produced by guitarist Desi Scaglione. The LP will also feature the previously issued songs “Crossing Fingers” and “One Million.” Frontwoman Alithea Tuttle said extensive touring shaped the material, with several songs re-recorded after months on the road. Rocket will test the new music live in August while opening selected European dates for the Smashing Pumpkins, then begin a 20-city headlining run across the United States and Canada from 27 October in Phoenix to a hometown finale at Los Angeles’ Roxy Theatre on 22 November. The day’s wave of debut-album news also included UK outfit Low Girl, which announced that its first LP, “Is It Too Late To Freak Out?,” will arrive on 24 October via AWAL. The four-piece, led by multi-instrumentalist Sarah Cosgrove, introduced the record with the fuzz-pop single “Handbrake.”
