The U.S. Department of Justice has charged Washington resident Sean Charles Dunn with one count of felony assault on a federal officer after he allegedly threw a Subway sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection agent late Sunday evening. According to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, Dunn approached the patrolling officer near 14th Street NW around 11 p.m., shouted expletives and, after several minutes of confrontation, hurled the sandwich, striking the agent in the chest. U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced the charges Wednesday, saying the case underscores the administration’s pledge to support law-enforcement personnel deployed to the capital as part of President Donald Trump’s ongoing crime-reduction initiative. Dunn was arrested shortly after the incident and allegedly told police, “I did it. I threw the sandwich.” Court records show no attorney listed for his defense; no plea has been entered and a first appearance has not yet been set.
