A California woman identified by prosecutors as Jasveen Sangha, 42, and known to clients as the “Ketamine Queen,” has agreed to plead guilty to supplying the dose of the anesthetic that killed “Friends” star Matthew Perry, the US Department of Justice said on Monday. Under the agreement filed in federal court, Sangha will admit to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of ketamine distribution and one count of distribution resulting in death or serious bodily injury. The plea spares her a trial that had been scheduled for September and exposes her to a maximum sentence of roughly 45 years in prison, though the judge retains discretion at sentencing. She has been in federal custody since August 2024 and holds dual US-UK citizenship. Perry was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on 28 October 2023. An autopsy determined that acute effects of ketamine, combined with drowning and other contributing factors, caused the 54-year-old actor’s death. He had been receiving the drug legally for depression but, according to prosecutors, sought additional supplies through illicit channels. Sangha is the fifth and final defendant to reach a plea deal in the case. Earlier agreements were struck by physician Salvador Plasencia, another doctor, Mark Chavez, Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and acquaintance Erik Fleming, tightening prosecutors’ focus on Sangha as the investigation’s primary remaining target.
