Authorities are investigating reports of gunfire late Sunday near the Washington Navy Yard, roughly a mile southeast of the U.S. Capitol. Social-media footage shows a crowd estimated at more than 100 teenagers riding dirt bikes and scooters, setting off fireworks and at least one person discharging a firearm in a riverside park. The Metropolitan Police Department closed nearby streets while agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security provided support. As of early Monday, police had not confirmed any injuries or arrests. Officials urged residents to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
