The Delhi government has withdrawn a ₹60 lakh tender for refurbishing Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s official residence, the Public Works Department (PWD) said in a 9 July notice that cited “administrative reasons” for the cancellation. The tender, floated on 28 June and due to be awarded after bids were opened on 4 July, covered extensive electrical and furnishing work at Bungalow No. 1 on Raj Niwas Marg. Planned upgrades included 14 split air-conditioners, five 4K smart televisions, several chandeliers, new wiring, premium kitchen appliances and other fixtures, all to be installed within 60 days. Gupta, who has lived in her private home since taking office in February, was expected to move into the bungalow once the work was completed. A separate contract was anticipated for an adjoining bungalow designated as her camp office. The government has not indicated whether the residence project will be re-tendered or revised.
