The Van Mahotsav 2025 tree plantation campaign has commenced in India, with major activities in Delhi and Punjab. In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the event at the PBG Ground, planting a sapling under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. The campaign aims to plant 7 million trees across all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi over the course of a month. Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to connecting environmental importance with every individual in the city. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam – Campaign 2.0'. In Punjab, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated the Van Mahotsav with a sapling plantation at Rajendra Park in Chandigarh. Kataria highlighted that planning for the plantation began in December 2024 and expressed his desire for the campaign to evolve beyond a ceremonial event into a public movement involving government departments and citizens alike.
