Delhi Police said it will deploy more than 1,000 officers across the South district and reinforce patrols around major Karbalas in Jor Bagh and Mehrauli as the city prepares for Muharram processions on 6 July. Joint Commissioner for the Southern Range Sanjay Kumar Jain noted that peace committee meetings have been held with community leaders and that requests for route adjustments and noise restrictions have been issued to organisers. In the eastern Shahdara district, DCP Prashant Gautam reported that about 900 personnel will oversee 31 Muharram-related events, including 29 moving processions—15 of which will travel beyond district limits. Additional checkpoints and traffic diversions are planned to keep the routes clear. Neighbouring Noida is taking similar precautions. DCP Central Noida Shakti Mohan Awasthi said a force of roughly 1,200 to 1,500 officers will manage seven scheduled processions across Noida and Greater Noida. Authorities in both cities emphasised that the deployments are precautionary and intended to ensure the annual Shia day of mourning proceeds peacefully.
