Mumbai Police have arrested a married English teacher from a well-known central Mumbai school on allegations that she repeatedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old male student over the past year. Investigators say the 38-year-old educator groomed the Class 11 pupil by offering emotional support, alcohol and anti-anxiety medication before taking him to five-star hotels, where the assaults allegedly occurred. When the student resisted, she purportedly enlisted a female friend—also now in custody—to persuade him that the relationship was normal. The Dadar police have charged the teacher under multiple provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and related Indian Penal Code sections, including rape, causing hurt by poison and criminal intimidation. A local court has remanded both suspects to police custody while officers review the teacher’s past interactions with other students and examine digital evidence. The school has suspended the teacher and pledged full cooperation with law-enforcement authorities. The victim’s identity remains protected under Supreme Court guidelines for sexual-assault cases.
