A truck carrying Kanwariyas from Rishikesh to Gangotri overturned near Jajal Fakot on the Rishikesh-Gangotri Highway in Tehri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand, on July 2, 2025. The accident occurred around 9:30 AM and involved 16 people on board. Three Kanwariyas were killed, and 18 others were injured. Among the injured, five with serious injuries were admitted to AIIMS, while eight were treated at Narendra Nagar sub-district hospital. Three critically injured individuals were referred to a higher medical center. The local police responded promptly, and the district administration has been instructed to provide all possible medical treatment to the injured. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed condolences for the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.
