Japanese animation studio Production I.G has released the main promotional video for the second season of the television anime “Kaiju No. 8,” confirming that the series will begin broadcasting in Japan on 19 July and stream worldwide the same day. The new trailer, unveiled on 11 July, highlights the storyline that follows protagonist Kafka Hibino as growing threats push the Defence Force to its limits. The season continues the adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s popular manga and will air Saturdays at 23:00 on the TV Tokyo network before reaching global audiences through real-time streaming platforms, including Crunchyroll. Production I.G again heads animation, with series composition by Yuichiro Kido and character designs from Tetsuya Nishio. The video also disclosed key music and casting updates. US pop-rock band OneRepublic returns from the first season to perform the ending theme, “Beautiful Colors,” while veteran voice actor Kotono Mitsuishi joins the cast as Hikari Shinomiya. The additions aim to build on the first season’s strong domestic and international reception, which helped the manga’s circulation surpass 18 million copies.
