The Hendrick Motorsports Xfinity Series car driven by Chase Elliott at Pocono got a big penalty: $40k fine, three-race suspension for crew chief Adam Wall, loss of 40 owner points (no driver points to take away) and 10 owner playoff points. NASCAR says it found a problem with the
NASCAR on Wednesday issued an L1 penalty against Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 17 Chevrolet for a rules infraction discovered after last weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Pocono Raceway. Officials said post-race inspection found unauthorized modifications to the car’s main frame rail conical receivers, violating Sections 14.3.3.2.1.1 K and L of the rule book. The sanctioning body fined the team $40,000, docked 40 owner points and 10 owner playoff points, and suspended crew chief Adam Wall for the next three Xfinity events. Driver points were unaffected because the car is entered only part-time in the series. Chase Elliott started from pole, led 38 of 100 laps and finished fourth in the Pocono race. Hendrick has two wins this season with the No. 17 entry, which is next scheduled to compete at Sonoma on July 12 with Corey Day. NASCAR said the Cup cars of Elliott and Christopher Bell, as well as Kaulig Racing’s Xfinity entry, passed additional inspections with no issues.
