On July 31, 2025, the 10th anniversary of the Narvarte multihomicide was commemorated in Mexico City. On July 31, 2015, five individuals—photojournalist Rubén Espinosa and Mile Virginia Martín, Yesenia Quiroz, Nadia Vera, and Alejandra Negrete—were brutally murdered in a residence in the Narvarte neighborhood. Despite a decade passing, the case remains unresolved, with the Fiscalía General de Justicia (FGJ) unable to clarify the motive, identify all material and intellectual perpetrators, and allegations of information leaks and stigmatization have persisted. Families of the victims and activists have continuously demanded justice and truth. To honor the victims and maintain public awareness, a Marca de Memoria (Memory Mark) was unveiled near the site of the killings on Luz Saviñón street. The commemoration included ceremonies organized by the victims’ families, the human rights organization Artículo 19, and cultural authorities. During the anniversary events, the FGJ reaffirmed its institutional commitment to resolving the case and offered a meeting with the victims’ families to address their concerns. The ongoing impunity of the Narvarte case has been a focal point for calls to prevent similar crimes in the future.
