Farmacias del Ahorro launched veterinary sections within some of its stores starting in Monterrey, Nuevo León, offering free consultations and pet products, with plans for national expansion. Meanwhile, Farmacias Similares inaugurated its first veterinary clinic, SimiPet Care, in the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City on June 12, 2025. SimiPet Care operates daily and provides affordable veterinary consultations starting at 75 pesos, with an ambitious plan to open up to 100 clinics nationwide within the year. The clinic also offers free consultations for rescued street dogs in Mexico City. Additionally, León, Guanajuato, has opened the Hospital de Mascotas León 450, the first public pet hospital in central Mexico, equipped with advanced medical facilities such as a CT scanner, operating rooms, laboratory, and X-ray services. The hospital provides 24/7 care for dogs and cats, with consultation fees starting at approximately 68.42 pesos, and aims to serve as a model for animal care and welfare. These developments coincide with a rising pet population in Latin America, driving increased demand for accessible and quality veterinary services.
