President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the expanded Hospital General IMSS-Bienestar in Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, after a project that required about 469–500 million pesos. The upgrade adds a 128-bed hospitalisation area, two fully equipped operating theatres, neonatal intensive-care units, imaging and hemodialysis facilities, and the region’s first public MRI and CT scanners. Authorities estimate the complex will provide free or low-cost care to more than 200,000 residents of Rioverde and surrounding municipalities. During the ceremony Sheinbaum announced an additional 200 million-peso allocation this year for health infrastructure across the state, including equipment to make all operating rooms fully functional. She also pledged either the rehabilitation or construction of a “dignified” hospital in Ciudad Valles, underscoring her administration’s goal of expanding universal access to healthcare.
