The Hoy No Circula program, aimed at reducing vehicular emissions and improving air quality, has been expanded and is currently active in Mexico City (CDMX) and the State of Mexico (Edomex) as of July 1, 2025. This expansion includes new municipalities in Edomex to align restrictions with those in CDMX. The program prohibits certain vehicles from circulating on specific days based on criteria such as the color of the vehicle's engomado (sticker), license plate number endings, and hologram classifications (1 and 2). Restrictions typically apply daily from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Drivers who violate the program face fines of up to 3,000 pesos. The program's schedule varies by day; for example, on July 3, vehicles with green stickers and plate endings 1 and 2 were restricted, while on July 4, vehicles with blue stickers and plate endings 9 and 0 were restricted. The program continues to operate through mid-July with similar criteria. Additionally, Santiago, Chile, is under an environmental alert due to pollution, with restrictions such as prohibiting the use of wood stoves starting July 16, 2025.
