Mexican authorities have arrested Gustavo Aldair, known as "El Malportado," the leader of the criminal group Los Malportados and a key figure in the Nuevo Imperio Cartel. The arrest took place at a beach club in Acapulco, Guerrero, where five members of the group were detained. Los Malportados and the Nuevo Imperio Cartel are involved in various criminal activities including kidnapping, extortion, robbery, and drug trafficking primarily in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Morelos. The capture follows the earlier detention of Néstor Arturo López, alias "El 20," the previous leader of the Nuevo Imperio Cartel. In a related security update, Omar García Harfuch, Mexico's Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, reported significant law enforcement operations in Sinaloa over the past two weeks, resulting in the arrest of 65 individuals, the seizure of 116 firearms, 24,000 rounds of ammunition, the dismantling of nine drug laboratories, and the confiscation of nearly 10 tons of drugs. These efforts are part of ongoing federal security operations targeting organized crime in Mexico.
