Mexican authorities have made significant arrests and dismantled criminal networks linked to major organized crime groups. Omar García Harfuch confirmed the detention of a suspected leader of the criminal group "La Barredora." Ulises Pinto, known as "El Mamado," identified as the second-in-command and a principal figure responsible for violence in Guadalajara, Jalisco, was arrested at Guadalajara International Airport by Navy personnel. Pinto faced charges of aggravated criminal association. This arrest is part of a broader effort that has led to the dismantling of "La Barredora" through a series of detentions of its main operators. Concurrently, a six-month investigation culminated in the disruption of a criminal network affiliated with the La Familia Michoacana cartel, which controlled commercial activities in at least 14 municipalities in the State of Mexico. The operation, named "Operación Liberación," targeted extortion schemes where members of La Familia Michoacana inflated prices of food and construction materials by up to 400%, delivering a blow to the cartel's financing structure in the region.
