The Mexico City Metro's Line 8 service was suspended on the evening of June 29, 2025, due to severe flooding caused by heavy rains. Water entered the tracks and platforms, particularly affecting four stations between Iztacalco and La Viga, including Coyuya, which experienced water levels reaching 80 centimeters above the guide rail. As a result, the Metro operated partially on two separate segments: from Garibaldi to Chabacano and from Constitución de 1917 to Apatlaco. Authorities provided provisional transportation services using RTP buses and police vehicles to assist affected passengers, especially between Santa Anita and La Viga stations. The suspension lasted approximately 16 hours, causing delays and inconvenience to thousands of users. Continuous pumping and technical inspections were conducted to address the flooding. On July 1, 2025, the Metro officially announced the full restoration of Line 8 service after completing the necessary repairs and drainage efforts.
