Mexico’s federal government used its daily press briefing to highlight progress across its flagship transport projects. General Óscar David Lozano Águila, head of the state-run Tren Maya, said all 34 stations are now fully operational and presented a customer survey showing 98.9 % satisfaction with cleanliness, 97.9 % with value for money and 95 % with punctuality. Lozano defended the railway’s finances, calling it “rentable” despite criticism that operating costs greatly exceed revenue. To capitalise on the summer travel season, the operator unveiled 10 vacation packages—bundling rail trips, Mexicana de Aviación flights, lodging and tours—developed with the Tourism and Foreign Affairs ministries. Elsewhere, General Isidoro Pastor reported that Felipe Ángeles International Airport handled 6.3 million passengers in 2024 and 3.6 million in the first half of 2025. The airport now hosts 38 domestic and eight international routes and expects to add 15 more before year-end. Leobardo Ávila Bojórquez, chief of the revived Mexicana de Aviación, said the carrier already serves 14 domestic destinations from AIFA and will open additional routes to improve national connectivity and stimulate tourism.
