Mexico’s government reported that the Tren Maya carried 1,359,317 passengers between its December 2023 launch and 15 July 2025, a figure that is expanding at an average pace of 19 % a month and stands 74 % higher than the comparable period last year. President Claudia Sheinbaum said the numbers confirm the railway’s profitability, countering criticism over its cost overruns. Director General Óscar David Lozano said all 34 stations spanning 1,554 kilometres are now fully operational. The service offers bus connections from Cancún International Airport to 14 stations at fares of 35–50 pesos. Rider surveys show 98.9 % satisfaction with cleanliness, 97.9 % with value for money and 95 % with punctuality. The line logged a single-day record of 6,641 travellers on 20 April and expects to top 7,000 a day during the current summer season, with total July ridership projected at 125,000. To capture holiday demand, the operator has launched package deals that bundle train tickets with Mexicana de Aviación flights, hotel stays and tours, with discounted rates for low-income passengers.
