President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated a new tower at the IMSS-Bienestar General Hospital in Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, adding imaging, laboratory and hemodialysis units as well as 128 beds, two operating rooms and neonatal intensive-care services. The expansion, built at a cost exceeding 500 million pesos, is expected to improve care for more than 200,000 people across the Huasteca region. Sheinbaum said the federal government will allocate a further 200 million pesos this year to equip health facilities statewide and announced plans for a “dignified” hospital in Ciudad Valles, now under feasibility study. The president framed the projects as part of her administration’s push to reverse what she described as service shortfalls caused by past privatization policies.
