On August 22, 2025, an attack by unidentified gunmen targeted two police patrols near Iranshahr in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, resulting in the deaths of five police officers. The assault involved armed militants ambushing the patrol units from the Damen police station while conducting security operations along the Khash-Iranshahr road. The militant group Jaish al-Adl later claimed responsibility for the attack. Following the incident, Iranian security forces, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Base and the Intelligence Ministry, conducted joint operations in the region.
