Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian urged former U.S. President Donald Trump to use his influence to steer the Middle East toward peace, warning that alternative choices could plunge the region into “endless wars.” In televised remarks on 7 July, Pezeshkian said Trump is “capable enough to guide the region toward a brighter future,” adding that the U.S. leader could also “put Israel in its place” if he chooses diplomacy over conflict. Pezeshkian’s comments come as Washington and Tehran remain at odds over Iran’s nuclear program and regional proxy conflicts. They also coincide with the U.S. presidential campaign season, in which Trump is seeking to return to the White House. The Iranian president framed his appeal as a stark choice for Trump between fostering calm or igniting further instability in the Middle East.
