An Israeli airstrike on June 23, 2025, targeting multiple locations in Tehran and Lorestan Province, resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian commanders. Among the casualties was Mohammad Taghi Yousefvand, the commander of the intelligence protection unit of the Basij paramilitary forces, a counterintelligence branch within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Iranian media and official IRGC sources confirmed his death, describing him as a key figure in Iran's internal security structure. Additionally, Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Madadolahi Ardakani, an advisor to the IRGC Aerospace Command, was also killed in the attacks. Funeral ceremonies for both commanders were held in their respective home provinces, with Yousefvand laid to rest in Lorestan and Madadolahi Ardakani in Ardakan, Fars Province. The strikes have reportedly caused the deaths of dozens of senior and mid-level IRGC commanders, as well as other security and law enforcement officials.
