Israeli warplanes struck a crowd of civilians north of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza late on 7 July, killing at least 11 Palestinians—including a child—and wounding more than 70 others, a medical source told Anadolu Agency. The attack was one of the deadliest single incidents reported in the territory in recent weeks. Earlier in the day, an air-launched missile hit a car outside the maternity gate of Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Medical Complex, leaving three people dead and several injured, according to hospital staff. Separate strikes on tents sheltering displaced families in Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, and on a residential building in the Tel al-Hawa district killed four people, among them a baby, local health officials said. After nightfall, helicopters and drones targeted Abu Helou School in the Bureij refugee camp—also housing displaced civilians—and bombed additional sites in Gaza City, Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah and Rafah. Casualty figures from those attacks were still being compiled as artillery fire continued across northern Gaza. The latest wave of attacks underscores the rising toll on Gaza’s civilian population as Israel’s military campaign, now in its tenth month, expands to shelters, schools and areas adjacent to hospitals.
