The United Kingdom has reopened its embassy in Tehran following a temporary closure, Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East Hamish Falconer told Parliament on 7 July. The resumption restores full diplomatic representation between London and Tehran after an interruption whose duration and cause the minister did not detail. Falconer said maintaining a direct channel with Iran was essential, but declined to discuss security assessments or the legality of a recent U.S. strike on Iranian nuclear sites, citing the need to protect intelligence sources. He added that continued involvement of the International Atomic Energy Agency remains critical to monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities.
